There are some excellent books about the Alexander Technique, and unfortunately a large number of really awful ones. We recommend the following as all being a good introduction.

BODY LEARNING     ~ Michael Gelb.

Most Alexander Teachers rate this as the best introduction to the Technique

ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE  ~ Chris Stevens.

A good all round introduction

THE ALEXANDER PRINCIPLE   ~ Dr. Wilfred Barlow.

Written by a doctor who was trained by Alexander himself, this is an in depth introduction. It was written about fifty years ago before dumbing down and lots of pictures became fashionable and is worth the effort!

THE USE OF THE SELF  ~ F.M. Alexander

Alexander’s third book, written in the nineteen thirties gives a thorough account of the evolution and development of the Alexander Technique. Again, worth the effort.

THE ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE: A Skill for Life  ~Pedro de Alcantara.

This book is a good read, and gives an in-depth explanation of the Technique. We recommend this and the The Use of the Self to Pupils with some experience of lessons.
